A good example of our educational video games is the Cuidadin Cuidadinez series, designed to teach Health and Safety at Work and Accident Prevention to children aged between 8 and 15. The idea is based on two parameters:

• It is recommendable that Health and Safety at Work be taught from an early age in order to instil good habits in youngsters.
• Players learn in a very direct way how to overcome the obstacles that make up the game in order to move up through the levels. This characteristic makes the game perfect for educational purposes, as it allows us to create obstacles and events which are full of teaching input.

In this first part of the story, Careful McKenzie is a construction worker who finds himself on the top floor of a building. His boss tells him to come down to the ground floor, and so Careful has to use all his knowledge of site safety in order to successfully meet the challenge.

In this second part, Careful McKenzie has gained some experience on building sites and now has to develop new skills in order to be able to safely tackle the new dangers that he faces. Prevention is once again the byword, with a series of new puzzles to be solved with new tests of his knowledge, such as driving a heavy vehicle…

Careful McKenzie has been promoted and is now responsible for ensuring the safety of his workers whilst on site.
The newly-appointed foreman is asked to carry out a check on safety conditions and procedures on the site, in order to adopt whatever measures may be necessary before the builders begin work.

McKenzie can carry out changes to the working environment or choose to ignore them - nothing is suggested to, or demanded of him. If he makes the right decisions there won’t be any problems; if he picks wrongly however, his workers will begin to suffer accidents.
